  • Thursday, December 26th:  ENJOY.  Now that the madness of Christmas day is over, take some time to actually enjoy the holiday if you haven’t already!  Spend the day ice skating by the sea, sipping hot cocoa, and checking out the amazing decorations at the Hotel Del. Enjoy the sunset while Santa paddles you through the canals of the Coronado Cays in a Venetian gondola.  After dark, cruise through Candy Cane Lane (on Country Club Lane) to see festive holiday lights.  Then enjoy a specialty Christmas cocktail and a seasonal dish made from fresh, local and organic ingredients at the cozy Tavern (1310 Orange Ave.).  Try  their rustic handmade pasta topped with roasted organic winter veggies in a creamy herb  sauce and Pecorino Romano cheese for only $13.

  • Friday, December 27th:  RELAX.   Now that you’re properly Christmas-ed out, you deserve a little R&R.  Poke through the great shops on Orange Ave, watch the games at one of my favorite spots, hit the links at the Coronado municipal golf course, or spend the day being pampered and lounging in the spa at the Hotel Del.  Then cozy up by the fire in the piano bar at Vigilucci’s for a peaceful, yummy dinner and a great bottle of vino.

    • Saturday, December 28th:  PLAY.  Even in December you can – and should! – get outside and enjoy our beautiful San Diego weather.  Take a morning walk on the beach and check out the tide pools in front of the Del.  From the Del, rent a bike or surrey and ride along Glorietta Bay, under the bridge, and to the Ferry Landing for a delicious lunch on the patio at Candela’s with a fantastic view of the Bay and downtown San Diego (1201 1st St.).  Then board a 27′ Catalina sailboat to catch one of our spectacular winter sunsets while gliding along the Bay with Action Sports Rentals (619-424-4466). Warm up and end your day of outdoor play with an amazing steak dinner and fabulous water views at the historic 1887 on the Bay restaurant.
