Things To Do After the Sun Goes Down

It’s Spring Break season!  Spending your days playing on Coronado’s top ranking beaches is a must, but after the sun goes down, then what?  There are lots of ways to continue the fun on the Island!  Here are my favorites…

  • Twilight Golf.  The return of spring means the return of twilight golf at the Coronado Municipal Golf Course.  Grab your sticks and hit the links for a relaxing – and scenic! – evening playing one of the best municipal courses in the country.  Twilight tee times start at 2:00 | $20 weekdays, $22 weekends | (619) 435-3122 | 2000 Visalia Row | golfcoronado.com

  • Grunion Run.  If you don’t want to leave the beach at the end of the day, set up an approved fire ring, roast s’mores and hang out to see the grunion run.  Grab some flashlights and wait to see thousands of small grunion fish take over the beach to “celebrate” their spring/summer spawning season.  The 5-6″ fish sparkle all along the beach as they wiggle around to bury their eggs.  It’s quite a unique site!  Find the approximate dates and times here.

  • Moonlight Paddle.  The full moon lights your way and provides lots of ambiance for an after dark paddle on the bay. Rent a stand up paddle board or kayak from the Coronado Boathouse and hit the water for a night time adventure followed by a bonfire and marshmallow roast on the sand.  Full Moon Tuesday April 15 and Wednesday May 14 | Paddle 7:00-8:00 | Bonfire 8:00 | $5 plus vessel rental | 1985 Strand Way | 619.522.2655

  • Live Music.  If you want to “hit the town” for some food, drinks, and live music there are lots of options!  Vigilucci’s piano bar plays nightly,  McP’s features favorite local bands nightly, Babcock & Story has guitar music most nights, Leroy’s goes off Wednesday and Thursday night, 1887 on the Bay livens up the Crew’s Lounge on Thursday night, and Wine a Bit complements your vino with live jams every Thursday – Saturday night.

  • Catch a Movie.  Just want to sit and be entertained for the evening?  Catch a new release at the Island’s super cute Vintage Village Theatre, which was recently restored with all the modern features but with all the retro charm.  820 Orange Ave. | 619.437.6161 | Shows, times, and tickets.

Enjoy!
