Each table of 10 guests had their own private chef. Ten of San Diego County’s top chefs were at center stage. Add artistic table settings with stylist floral created and the result: magnificent, memorable meals of “Healthy Flavors.” The event, presented on March 15 by the American Liver Foundation’s (ALF) Pacific Coast chapter, combined a wine reception and silent auction with a multi-course gourmet dinner and live auction at Loews Coronado Bay Resort. Coronado chefs included Loews’ Executive Chef Nicolas Bour, Loews Chef de Cuisine at Mistral Adam Cho and Chef Marco Sedda of Vigilucci’s Ristorante Coronado. The night’s honoree was Dr. Mark Tamsen, medical director, emergency services at Sharp Coronado Hospital.
Coronado-based gastroenteroligist and hepatolgist, Dr. Tarek Hassanein, serves on the board of ALF’s Pacific Coast chapter and brought the event to Coronado.
“I want to see Coronado become known as a center for healing,” Hassanein said. “Not just for treatment of liver disease, but for a full spectrum of medical care and rejuvenation. We have the perfect location and climate. Sharp Coronado Hospital receives high marks for patient care as a Center of Excellence for hip and knee surgery. Now it is opening a fabulous new cafeteria.”
The Coronado “Healthy Flavors” event is an offshoot of the Flavors of San Diego Culinary Gala held annually at the Grand Del Mar Resort, with the next San Diego event scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 13. For information, contact Kristin Williams at (619) 291-5483 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
