Patients, families and friends of patients, medical staff and the Coronado community at large can now enjoy a new dining experience at Mindful Café at Sharp Coronado Hospital. The cafeteria, which had not been renovated for more than 25 years, now incorporates a beautiful island resort motif that has been embodied into the remodel of the entire hospital. The new cafe features a soup and salad bar, healthy food choices 24 hours a day in its ala carte section, a breakfast bar, Coronado-inspired sea-glass tables, and views to the outdoor healing garden, whose serene environment includes two “living garden” walls, umbrella-covered tables and a central water feature. The project was financed through the philanthropy of community members who contributed more than $500,000 to the Coronado Hospital Foundation, with matching two-to-one funds by the city of Coronado.
